Hemp Protein Powder 40% is naturally produced from UK grown hemp seed, processed at our award-winning factory here in Wiltshire. It has a lower protein/fibre ratio and a slightly more course texture than Hemp Protein 50 (P50) which is reflected in the price. A highly versatile, nutrient dense powder milled to 300 microns, it is a free-flowing powder, brown/green in colour with a mild, nutty taste. It is milled from seed cake after the oil has been removed by cold pressing (defatted). It is mechanically processed only using no heat or chemicals.

Application
In food manufacturing it is often used to improve on applications historically served by soybeans, peas, lentils, quinoa, pumpkin and flax. It is often used to fortify or enhance products in the baking, ready meal, pasta and health snack industries.

Hemp protein powder is a complete protein, meaning it contains all nine essential amino acids that the human body needs but cannot produce.

PROTEINS: Hemp Protein P40 naturally contains all 20 amino acids along with the easily digestible proteins edestin (65%) and albumin (35%) both of which are critical to ongoing health. About 65% of the proteins contained in hemp protein consist of the easily digestible protein edestin, a so-called storage protein (contains amino acids). The remaining 35% is albumin, a high-quality protein whose structure is similar to that of the protein in a chicken egg. About 50% of the protein content in blood plasma consists of albumin. It is also considered a transport protein for magnesium and calcium, for example. Both albumin and edestin are globular proteins ie soluble in water, acids and bases.
